Let’s talk about the kind of verbiage to use when your stakeholders are circumventing your 🌟 fabulous 🌟 campaign ops intake process and just helter-skelter DMing you random requests and questions.
Templates
I am a huge believer in the “kill them with kindness” approach so here are a few examples:
▶ Hello there! Thanks so much for sending this campaign request! If you don’t mind, please submit this as a [INSERT PM TOOL] ticket here and then I’ll drop you an update there. Thanks a bunch!
▶ Hello there! Roger that on the question but please submit this as a [INSERT PM TOOL] ticket here and then I can get an you an answer 😊
Things to call out
📍 I love the strategic use of an emoji to take the sting out of a hand slap if need be. It helps you say no with a friendly face.
📍 The tone you want to convey is “I am making a very reasonable request of you so of course you’re going to comply because we are both polite, pleasant human beings”
📍 Don’t be afraid to be a broken record. Make slacking you/emailing you an unsatisfying experience.
📍 But! Once you have a ticket, try your best to get some kind of update dropped in the ticket within 24 hours, even if the update is just “Confirming receipt of this request. I will be able to get to this on DAY TIME.” You want to create a positive feedback loop when folks follow the process.
